Traditional Cuisine

Puran Poli (a paratha stuffed with jaggery and dal), Aamti (masala dal), and Alu chi Vadi (steamed arbi leaves, fried in an unusual sweet and spicy masala) are the traditional Maharashtrian cuisines that are served at the Pune restaurants for tourists and visitors. Pithla Bhakri, Varan Bhat, Matki Ki Usal and Thali Pith are also popular in Pune.

Summer Special

Fruit is the theme for summer cuisines in Pune. There are varieties of fruits available in Pune from tangy green to flamboyant orange to delicate pink; the summer in Pune shows off the fruit in a glorious splash of vibrant colour. For the Alphonso, May is the best time of the year. Maharashtrian dessert amras is best made from the pulp of fresh mangoes.
